Today is our last day in Brisbane. Andrew picked us up just before 09:00 and we headed over to the Wicked camper place to pick up our unit. It appears that they have been saving the ugliest van on the lot for us. We do the check over and are ready to pull out. Andrew leads the way back to his place and, remarkably I make it all the way without a mishap, although I am feelimg a little tense most of the way.
We sort ourselves out a bit and when Jadine gets home from work we have lunch (tacos) and set-up the gps to take us to Byron Bay. The GPS is set up to take a leisurely route rather than the Super Highway. We tour through the Bucolic countryside, eventually making our way through the Gold Coast area and south past Coolangatta. We arrive at the Arts Factory hostel, that Kit recommended, at around 5:00pm.

Rain off and on as we try to sort ouselves out in the back of the van so we head into the hostel and pick up some lasagna before going over to the bar for a tray of beer samplers. The place is filled with young, Kit looking, backpacker people from all over the world. I have never seen a better congregation of young, beautiful girls anywhere! I can see why Kit likeditiso much! There is a nice pool, and lots of rooms arranged in two floors surrounding the pool area. A bar, common areas, pool tales, sandy beach, restaurant etc. and everything, like everywhere else in Australia, is built in the open with no doors, or with walls missing so that the indoors and the outdoors merge as one. There is also an amazing tent city in a jungle like setting surrounding a lagoon. Did I mention that Di and I are the oldest people here by at least 30 years!
