Travel to the Blue Mountains

We got up this morning and packed up, saying goodbye to the great camp site we had occupied for the last 5 nights. Bill had a lousy night last night it looks like he is coming down with a flu. We programmed the GPS and headed west towards the Katoomba Caravan park, in Katoomba. We needed to pick up some groceries and a tarp someplace so we kept an eye out as we travelled west. The highway goes right by Penrith so we stopped in and found a Big W in the mall where we could get what we needed. Big W is like a Walmart in North America, Woolworths are called Woolies here and it is a grocery store. Coles is also a grocery store and Bunnings is the equivelent of a Home Depot. MacDonalds are just as ubiquitous as anywhere and they are called Mackers (pronoucnnced Mackas, like fracas). I am on a down hill slide with this flu, or whatever it is. I shuffle along behind Diane, at the mall, and can barely keep up. Talk about roll reversal!

After Penrith it was an easy 40 minute drive to Katoomba. We had a little difficulty finding the camp ground and ended up at the 3 sisters view point. I took a couple of selfies with Diane and we picked up some brochures before going to the campsite. The campground has all the amenities but the sites are a little closer packed than the last campground. Still, we get a good, non-powered site, on higher ground, overlooking the cricket pitches. As soon as we are set-up I head into the camper for a two hour nap while Di organized our expense records. Once I was back up we had some supper, and set up a tarp over our sitting area outside the van sliding door. Darkness settled in by 7:30 and we relaxed with a cup of tea for me and a cup of wine for Di.
