The Prom - Mar 17

Squeaky Beach

We got up this morning to another overcast day. Everyone in the camping area is bidding their time, watching the weather. Around 10:00 Paul went over to the office to get a forecast. Bad new! There is a severe weather warning out for the Prom. Extreme winds and wet weather coming in in the afternoon, off the Tasman sea. By noon many of the campers were already pulling out. Since we had nowhere better to be we found a more sheltered site and settled in. By early afternoon the weather actually looked pretty good. We hiked over the headland to the next beach, called Squeaky Beach. The sand, where it was dry enough, squeaked loudly under your feet as you walked, pretty neat. It drizzled on us off and on during the hike there, and the hike back. The rest of the day was spent reading in the camper, out of the rain. The severe wind and weather they had threatened never really materialized, still it was a wet evening.

Sad Face Plug

Since it was a slow day I will take the opportunity to point out a couple of the Aussie oddities. Their plug- ins. consist of a rather sad little face, and all of their plug- ins have a power switch associated with it. You have to make sure you turn on the power or your I-pad will not charge. Another interesting (or not) detail down here is that there are seldom if ever any washrooms (call them toilets down here) in any restaurant or eating facility! 99% of the time you have to go out and down the street to find a public toilet somewhere!
