Eden- Mar 14

Genoa camp site

The day broke without a cloud in the sky, a perfect day to travel along the coastal road. It took a while to pack up this morning. In the rain or cold we are much more effficient but, with the warm sun we took our time, had showeres and said our good byes to everyone around us. Our destination is only 200 km down the road to a free roadside stop called Genoa. Unlike Canada, you can stop and camp anywhere you like, as long as it is not private property. Many small towns or villages maintain campgrounds with running water and showers, sites with tables etc (though no power). Genoa is a well known and great site.

Fish and Chip Takeaway in Eden

We travel till noon then stop at Eden for lunch. Eden has a good, deepwater harbour and is well known for whale watching in the Sept to Nov period. No whales now but we saw plenty of dolfins back at Dalmeny. We got some fish and chips takeaway and ate along the wharf watching the seagulls. The afternoon travel was short and we setup at the Genoa site by 3:00. It was still sunny and hot but we got the tarp up for shade before relaxing to read for a while. We strolled over a historic/heritage bridge into town only to discover that Genoa consists of 6 houses, 2 sheep, a cocker spanial and a small bar (that serves fish and chips!). Since we had them for lunch we decided to forgo the fish and chips and walked back to the campsite.
