Lakes Entrance outer beach
We woke up to some nice, warm sunshine in the morning but, that was all we were going to get for a while . The sun lasted just until we finished breakfast then the wind kicked up and the rain started. We packed up in a hurry and were out of the camp ground before anyone else. Again, our destination was planned for the day, 130 km down the coast and settle in. With the rain however we figured we might as well put in some kilometers. We set our new sights on a place called Newry, another free site, this time on a golf course. The free sites are nice, and will offset the prices we pay at Wilson's Promentory (The Prom) later in the week. We stopped around 10:30 at a quaint town called Orbost for coffee and some travel information, then headed on towards Lakes Entrance. Lakes Entrance is a real tourist place on the coast that, as the name might suggest, is the entrance to a whole nework of lakes, and vacation land, outside of Melbourne. We did a walk along the board walk and out to the outer beaches area where we had a lunch at the picnic tables.

Lakes Entrances lookin back to mainland
Stratford is where our GPS said to turn off the main road towards the campground. We turned off and headed northwest for a while before concluding that the GPS was going to get us lost in the outback. Diane used her phone map system to navigate us to the golf course where we settled in with two other nice couples (the implication being that we are a nice couple as well!). The weather was cool but not rainy so we read the newspaper, looked for snakes and generally relaxed.

Aussie Beach Warning, Sarks? No Worries!
One thing that bugs me about camping here is the light. Most of our camping in Canada is done during the spring and summer when the water is high for kayaking. That means that you have light till 9 or 10 at night. Here the sun is set at 7:30 in the evening meaning we are in bed by 9:00 or 9:30, since there are no fires allowed in most locations.
