G'Day. Here is the first entry for our trip to Australia.
Diane and I are planning to head to the southern continent/country in mid February. We will be meeting up with Andrew and Jadine on the 21st and spending a week with them before heading out on our own. The current plan is to head south first, hitting the major attractions along a route that will include Brissy, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide. We will then work our way back north to the Great Barrier Reef out of Townsville or Cairns before returning to Brisbane to catch our flights home in around the middle of April.
I know what you are thinking, why not Tasmania or Perth? How about Uluru or New Zealand? Well, there is a shit load of stuff we could go to see but the fact is we only have two months. The way we figure it everything we see will be new to us. Whether we catch all of the well known tourist meccas or not, really does not matter. We plan on taking our time, seeing what we can and just enjoying the experience of a different country.
We have already booked a vehicle there. It consists of a camper van out the the 70's.
We should be largely self sufficient for most of the trip although we also plan on staying at a couple of the YHA hostels located in the major centres.
Di and I will be making regular entry's to this Blog over the course of our trip and hope you will be willing to follow us on our adventures. Please feel free to make comments, entries or suggestions along the way. Having contact and input from all of our friends and family will make it a richer experience us and hopefully be fun for everyone else as well.
